Photo Text Assignment "That Day"

What did you you like about this?

I really liked how my images turned out. My favourite is probably the one with the border. It has a little more colour and lyrics fit well. I really liked this assignment it really let me do what I like. I got to play with a lot of different filters and tools in photoshop. I got to find out about a lot of things that I wouldn't of on my own.

What didn't you like?

As I was working I noticed I didn't like how I sort of limited myself to dark images. I noticed in the picture you can't see the persons face and it kind of eliminated an idea I had. I also didn't like how I had to use the whole image. I think I would have liked to have been able to crop certian parts but there was too much in the picture and I felt it needed all of it to make sense with the lyrics.

What would you have changed?

I think I would have taken a different picture where I could work more with the human emotion of the song. I definately would have taken the picture in colour so I could have more realistic options when it came to putting colour in my image. I would have taken a picture where I could take parts and move them around to create a more out there image.

Photo Text Brainstorm

I chose the song 'That Day' by Tokio Hotel.
The sentences I chose are 'Everybody says that time heals the pain, I've been waiting forever, that day never came'

Image Ideas:
black and white, someone looking really depressed, or a sense of loneliness, doesn't have to be a person, I can represent loneliness with anything. Have one image where the lyrics stand out more and another where the image stands out and the lyrics are hidden.

What did you like?
I like the sound effects because I think they bring the video together. I also like my idea for the Olympics because I was able to use quite a bit of clips for it.

What didn't you like?
I didn't like that I was unable to use crickets because I couldn't find a soundclip anywhere. I don't like how some of it just pops in here and there.

What would you change?
I would definately find a cricket sound and put it in where the little boy with the glasses has the completely dumbfounded expression on his face at the end. I would put more sounds in and maybe take out the subtitles. I would of liked to modify the one video a bit to kind of make it more Olympic like.

Boat and Raft

What do you like?



I like the background. I like sunsets. I like how the boat and raft sort of blend in with my sunset image.



What don't you like?

I don't like that my objects are so ordinary. I don't like how my boat looks like a block of wood on the water.

What would you do differently if you did it over?

I would try to get a more modern looking boat. I would maybe play with a few more things in the program so make a more normal looking boat. I would maybe pick a whole new object to start with.

Alter Ego - "Silence Can Destroy"

What did you like?

I liked myself. I had a clear image on how I wanted myself to look and I feeled I nailed it dead on. I like the sense of darkness and disorder. I liked the way I feel I captured what I wanted to a certian extent. I also like how the lyrics of one of my favourite songs suits for the title of my alter ego "Silence can Destroy".

What didn't you like?

I don't like that I didn't get the exact image I pictured in my head before I started. I had pictured things a little differently but once I started I lost that image. I didn't like that after I started I limited myself to black and white. It was harder to find images because I limited myself to two main things and I needed to use my images to correspond with my two main images ( me and the dragonfly) I coulldn't have anything just floating around.

What would you change if you could redo it?

I would try harder to get the image I thought of first. I would probably try to make a larger theme out of it. Maybe making everything have a humanoid like feeling. I would have made my dragonfly have a more obvious appearance. Right now it looks like a random bug with it's head ripped off but it symbolizes more then that.

What I like most about this animation is that I didn't have to lengthen the scenes. It all fit together the way it was supposed to right away. Also, I like the way the flies eventually dominate at the end. It shows the arrogant flyswatter up.

What I disliked about this animation is the point that I can't draw. My flyswatter changes sizes throughout and its bad. I also don't like that the flyswatter doesn't look very 3D. I basically dislike my flyswatter because I couldn't draw it right. I don't like how it all takes place in the same general spot.

What I would do if I could redo is maybe learn how to draw. I would likely learn how to trace as well. I would maybe try to find a larger variety of sounds the flyswatter could make. Also, I would be more precise about the backround and maybe have more stagings then in just the one spot.

Alter Ego

What are five interesting things that most people don’t know about you?


Five interesting things about me that most people don't know are I am actually really shy, I have an epileptic dog, I play AA hockey in Guelph, I'm actually from Clifford not Mildmay, and I wear glasses when I read.

What are three things that your friends would say about your personality? What are the opposite to these things?

Three things my friends would say about my personality are that I am loud and outgoing, I am brutally honest and opinionated and that I am free spirited and I don't follow normal procedures.
The opposites of these are shy, a liar and controlled.


What are your five biggest goals/dreams for your future (they don’t have to be totally realistic)?

My five biggest goals/dreams are to become Prime Minister, be really rich, own a humane society, travel the world, and go to Mars.

Describe your alter ego.

My alter ego is a controlled being, someone without say in what they do, someone that can't stand up for themselves. My alter ego is a robot with no feeling or freedom.
